Podcast Episode 81: Carnivore Pt.1
This week's episode was very spontaneous. We were just joking around about strawberries not actually being berries, pizza being a vegetable, and ketchup being a sports drink, when it pivoted into a conversation about Carnivore diet.
I've done it extensively a few years ago and then fell off, restarted again a couple of times and fell off again. So in my current bout I've started in May an it's still ongoing.
We talked about my reasons why I do it and the kind of outcomes that I've experienced. To no surprise one of the biggest immediate changes I've noticed was the weight loss, but there were more subtle changes as well. Improvements in energy levels, sleep... It reduced my anxiety occurrences pretty much completely. More stable mood, better appetite and satiety regulation, and a bunch of other ones that I can't even remember right now.
We talked about my understanding of the underlying mechanisms, how insulin works, the dreaded Calories In, Calories Out model, and why I don't think it really an end-all, be-all answer. Briefly touched on Randal Cycle and why it's not a good idea to mix carbs and fats in the same meal.
I recounted my battles with cravings and how sugar addiction is a thing, and bunch of other things as well, so please check it out. Part two will be coming next week, so stay tuned for that, or, better yet - subscribe.
